Bedroom Mould

Preliminary inspection:

  • Mould growth to ceiling, cornice and window surrounds.
  • Cause of mould growth was condensation and lack of ventilation mostly from during the winter months.
  • Areas of mould growth had missing or misplaced ceiling insulation. This was evident using a infrared camera.

Treatment:

  • Hepa vacuum to all affected areas.
  • Anti-microbial treatment to all affected areas.

Recommendations:

  • Ventilate the room as much as possible particularly during the winter months.
  • Use the ceiling fan set on low in winter mode during the winter months to circulate the air and avoid humid pockets of air.
  • Use the split system aircon unit to heat the room during winter set at 19 to 21c only or alternatively run the aircon on dry mode.
  •  Install ceiling insulation where missing or make sure any existing insulation is pushed down firmly onto the cavity side.
