Bedroom Mould
Preliminary inspection:
- Mould growth to ceiling, cornice and window surrounds.
- Cause of mould growth was condensation and lack of ventilation mostly from during the winter months.
- Areas of mould growth had missing or misplaced ceiling insulation. This was evident using a infrared camera.
Treatment:
- Hepa vacuum to all affected areas.
- Anti-microbial treatment to all affected areas.
Recommendations:
- Ventilate the room as much as possible particularly during the winter months.
- Use the ceiling fan set on low in winter mode during the winter months to circulate the air and avoid humid pockets of air.
- Use the split system aircon unit to heat the room during winter set at 19 to 21c only or alternatively run the aircon on dry mode.
- Install ceiling insulation where missing or make sure any existing insulation is pushed down firmly onto the cavity side.
